Getting Great Service

Once in awhile husband and I take the kids out to Dairy Queen for a treat.
My favorite treat since college, has always been the peanut buster parfait.
The kids like a Dilly bar, the husband always a dipped cone.
We enjoy our treat, but the service is not great. Slow and careless.
The teenagers spend more time chatting than greeting customers, and seem to all have one arm and hand that is limp and useless. Sore from too much cell phone chatter or video, computer game entertainment. What ever the problem it seems unavoidable. Although I have brought it up to the managers attention many times.

While the other day, I got more than peanuts, I bit down on something hard and woody.
Rolled it around in my mouth, fearful tp spit it out. As you just never know.
After realizing this was truly a unedible extra I spit it out to examine.
"What is it?" We all asked.
Seemed to be a big piece if peanut plant root.
So I took my little surprise to the counter to show the manager.
As everyone gathered around for a good look. They're mouths dropped with awe.
I gave the manager my name and phone number as he requested.

Last week the kids and I went in. I was greeted right away, the order was taken quickly and efficently and no icecream was spilling over the edge of the bowl or cones. It was a great day for good service. And no roots, just peanuts.
Later that day I recieved a phone call from the owner. He discussed and apologized for the root. Then asked me what our favorite treat was. He said he would be sending out coupons for all our favorite treats, and asked that I call him anytime if I ever have a problem again.

So what have I learned from this? If you find service lacking, don't complain, just take a pebble, root, rock or screw and stuff it in your mouth, show all the people that work there. Wince and wine a little and before long service for you as a customer will be top notch. Really.

Hen Peck Meeting

Tonight I was at a SAC meeting. Student Advisory Council Meeting.
Now I know why Hen Pecking is a well used term by men when it comes to putting Mothers together in a group.
I don't like this, I don,t want that, I think this, I disagree with that. A lot of clucking ado about nothing. We discussed head lice for an hour. The school has been collecting stuffed animals for the children affected by the hurricane Katrina. Some of the parents wanted the program shut down because the school has a few cases of head lice. Letter has been sent out as a heads -up notice, as a result it has caused a massive paranoia.
Personally at least they we're informed. As most public play places, swimming pools, parks, dance classes, etc. don't send out news letter about it. Children can easily get in other places besides a school. I feel the moral value placed on sending children in the U.S.A a teddy that have lost everything far more important than a possible case of head lice.
We have never had head lice in this house, but I'm sure if we got it we would survive, it's not like we have been hit by a hurricane.
Other hot topics the milk program. They have wasted alot of good milk over the years from waste. Let it go than. You can send your child milk in their lunch with an ice pack, freeze it over night or a thermos. Though much debate had to take place.
I think the worst part about it all was the snappy remarks made across the room from one parent to another. The air thick with conflict over the smallest things like a little bug and a carton of milk.
Thats today folks.

Goals and Living longer.

We all want to live longer, healthy, more fullfilling lives. I came across an intresting study on health and goals. It gave me a new perspective on setting goals and accomplishing them.

As I am the worst person for brain storming big ideas and completeing very few. Although my goals and ispirations are endless.

Those of us that set goals even small ones and are quick to complete them live longer and are happier. Why? Well, the accomplishment of completion comes with a feeling of satisfaction, but it also validates our abilities. Therefore we inspire to do more. Our sence of pride in ourselves creats an high, that makes us crave more. As a result, busy people always get busier, and lazy people lazier.

When we are busy, we think ahead to all we must complete, and the realitity is in sickness or ill health we cannot give up the fight untill the important things are dealt with. Our stubborn will to accomplish, simply pushes us ahead into ripe old age and further.

So if you find your self feeling lazy, and bored, think of your dreams you have yet to complete as they can be your fountain of youth, more than you know.

A Special Friend

To my friend,

It takes a special person to have the unique and extraordinary ability to fill the hearts of those around them. This you do and more, with all the thought and understanding that goes into everything you do.

You know who you are. Thank You for being so GREAT!
