My Purpose
A friend once asked me what my purpose was in life? If I knew it, and where it would led me?
I responded rather easily, as my own moral ideologies, and beliefs have given me a strong sence of what I desire to attain in my existance.
And so I replied,
Other people are my measurement of happiness and success. For everyday in my life, if I could just make one person smile each day, or have them leave an encounter with me feeling uplifted and enthusiastic about life than I have succeeded in my quest.
In life all things shall come to pass, money shall be spent, time shall run out, the sun may go down, but moments in memory remain forever. I wish to be a flower in their garden, a rainbow in their sky, and a blessing in their memories. For if their is everlasting life, or not, peoples memories of you are a lifetime so make them worthwhile.
And so that is the purpose to my everyday.
My friend commented that this was a strong sign of insecurity. As my need for positive relationships was the bases for my success in life.
Thus she stated, you are using people for you own good high.
So you are indeed selfish, as well.
I thought about her comment, and it plagued me. As to some extent she is correct, but to remove people from my life, would remove the ability to share a laugh, a hug, or smile.

Crystal, dismiss your friend's advice. You do not need positive relationships as much as the world needs people like you to make them positive so that they can spread this positive energy to a ever rippling circumference of more and more people.

Crystal,
In my job, where I visit families who have been diagnosed with the disease of Alzheimer, this is a horrific event in their life journey. However, the one thing I have learned from the people who have the disease and the caregivers is that having others in your life, making each other smile, having someone to hug and appreciate your hug is some of the most important events in your life.
So I think your answer is perfect and I think if more people lived this way then whether people are suffering from a horrific disease, loneliness, or just living, our world really would be a better place.
Thank you for making my world a better place by being who you are.
