Tell Tale Signs

In any social situation, ones body gestures speaks volumes.
Often we are to busy, wrapped up in our own thoughts to pay detailed attention to hidden communication. Being more aware of others gestures can help you understand and gain confidence in any social situation.

A handshake alone can make or break the trust between two individuals. An overly aggressive shake in a demand of power, often used by those insecure individuals in an attempt to convince you otherwise. Do not be concerned with this type of individual as they need your approval.
A weak handshake on the other hand is a person with little interest in others. Almost to the point of self absorbed. They will not openly listen to what you have to say, and have no time to invest in a deeper relationship.
The best handshake in one will equal firmness, one that matches you own. Said to be a sign of equal respect and intrest for both parties.

While sitting at a table across from another we can read hidden communication as well. When one leans away from the table they are feeling defensive, or aloof. A good listener will lean over the table or into the speaker. Many times with married people we can see who is more dominant in the relationship by table play. The weaker individual will have a must smaller comfort zone, while the other will hog table space.
(Also seen in the bedroom, bed hogs are often the controllers)

From lighting a smoke, to how one holds his knife or fork all plays into the silent language of gestures. Perhaps before forming an opinion on another you should make note of these small gestures.
It will provide you will a better understanding, and stronger interpersonal skills.

A Simple Shoe

I am but a simple shoe,
no laces, buckles or fancy do.
Slip on, slip off, and worn too.

I walk from here,
I walk to there.

I am but a simple shoe,
How I wish I had more to do.
I need some flair,
some fancy treads.

I need a heel made of steel.
I need a tread painted red.
I need an insole by my toe.
To tell me where the hell to go.

Perhaps if I were not a simple shoe.
I would not walk with the likes of you.

Perhaps....someday I'll feel new?

A Cold Snap

It has been cold, really cold lately. So in the warmth of the house we have been trying to keep busy. I have cleaned out the closets, sorted the cutlery drawer, went through the kids toys, read a novel, and rearranged my furniture. Now I sit. I sit and sit.

No inspiring thoughts, no tale tales, nothing intresting to ponder.
Perhaps the cold has thickened my brain, like that of car engine oil.
I need a boost, some jumper cables to ignite me.
Or perhaps, I could starting going through my husbands things. That could certainly start a spark around here.

What sends sparks off in your house?

A New Year

So a new year has begun.
What have we learned from the year past.
I have learned many things.

1.Life is precious, make the most of your time.
2.Take time to contact those you love, even if in little ways to let them know you care.
3.Believe in yourself, and your abilities.
4.Listen to your children, they see truth.
5.Hug each other often, as a tide can carry us away in a moment.
6.Help your neighbor, and your world.
7.Be thankful to live here, have empathy for those who don't.
8.Pray always.
9.And awake each new day with a smile.

The following will explain each lesson learned.

1.My grandmother passed away, I didn't get a chance to see her before she passed.
2.I did write my thoughts and my Mother, thankfully, shared them with grandmother before she passed away.
3.My girlfiend had a baby new years day, and had a great delivery.
4. My daughter wanted a new mother for Christmas, seems I've been grumpy, time for a new attitude, time for change.
5.With the earthquake disaster, life is too uncertain to leave a hug for another day.
6. Give to those whom have nothing, or whom lost everything. I am Happy to be Canadain, and our empathy for others is so strong.
7. Canada is a safe haven for us all, appreciate it.
8. Sometimes we can do nothing in the moment but pray.
9. A smile in the morning will carry you cheerfully through the day.

What have you learned?
