The Lucky Painter

Been painting, yes, spring is in the air, time for change.
So being somewhat of a risk-taker I took up the project last week while the husband was out of town. Painting with two small children is a challenge but I thrive on adventure.

Color? Lets go bold I thought, with texture. Failing to realize that glaze and color can conflict when applied by an over confident amateur painter.

The color when husband came home, after three difficult attempts to soften - Barbie pink, so a friend stated upon entering my home.

So all this week, I have attempted to go to town to find a better color than my Barbie pink dining room. But I will not drive in snowy weather. Monday, bad weather. Tuesday, not too bad, drove halfway when blizzard set in and I turned around to come home empty handed.

Wednesday, fridge died, babysat, and had the folks out for a visit. Thursday, preschool meeting, snow again and husband coming home.

Frustrated with a week gone and still no new paint to cover the Barbie wall. The wall that I so created and so dislike.

Friday evening, invited to a Home Interiors' party. Never been to this ladies house before. Open the door. "Oh I love that Terra Cotta color on your wall," I say to her. "I am so sad this week as I have to live with my mistake of Barbie Pink due to my stupidity, and fear of driving in bad weather."

Lady goes to basement, returns with a new can of Terra Cotta paint just for me. "Here," she says, "I bought way too much for my little house so you can have a can as a gift." I smile, and Thank her. Leaving, I think what a lucky painter I am.
As today it is snowing.
